The Liberty Theatre Celebrates 100 Years with Centennial Gala


This week, the Liberty Theatre, a treasured landmark of arts and culture in Columbus, Georgia, proudly announced its 100th Centennial Gala: The Soul of the Community, a spectacular evening of celebration, storytelling, and tribute to a century of artistic excellence and cultural significance. The highly-anticipated event will take place on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Columbus, Georgia Convention and Trade Center.


For 100 years, the Liberty Theatre has stood as a beacon of creativity, empowerment, and community, uplifting generations through the power of performance. The Centennial Gala will honor its remarkable history, and celebrate its continued impact on the arts in the years to come.


The Liberty is currently undergoing a major renovation with plans for a $4 million streetscape to be completed in the coming year. In addition to external improvements, the interior renovation is nearly finished with the expectataion that the theatre will reopen its doors in its 100th year of existance.

To celebrate, the Centennial Gala will feature an extraordinary lineup of performers including film actress Donna Biscoe, Broadway actors Michael Stiggers and Willa Bost, Miss Georgia 2022 Kelsey Hollis, and Gospel singer Wendi Wyatt. The evening's emcee will be BET's 106 & Park original host AJ Calloway.


“This is more than a gala—it’s a once-in-a-lifetime tribute to a century of culture, resilience, and storytelling,” said Oz Roberts, Co-Chair of the Liberty's Board of Directors. “The Liberty Theatre has given a voice to so many over the years, and on this historic night, we will honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire the future.”


Attendees can expect a night of red-carpet glamour, powerful storytelling, and a deep connection to the soul of the community. This black-tie event will not only celebrate the theatre’s legacy but funds raised will help support its future endeavors, programs, and initiatives, ensuring its impact continues for generations to come.
